Aug 2006: Here's the latest, two nesting bowls made out of purple heart and a beautiful red wood for Robinette and Daron's house warming present.
I got a book on turning which showed how to reverse chuck your bowl by cutting a recess into a piece of plywood and wedging in your bowl with a piece of cloth. It really adds a nice finishing touch to have the bottom turned.
And I love this hack I came up with to get my blank round before I start to turn. Something about bladed machinery rotating on perpendicular axies that get's my mechanically nerdy juices flowing.
Oh, and the chip from these colored woods was just beautiful.
Burl Bowl #2 (Wedding Present for Aaron and Aletha Wood)

Handmade Presents were the theme for Chirstmas 2002 at the Tuft Household.
Here's my first couple tries at a pepper grinder, a salt shaker
