Let's head 'er up on to Canada eh!

We flew into Syracuse NY, and Cory Marilyn and Keanna greeted us with Leis made from Tim Horton's cups.

The next day we drove over to Robinette's other brother's house with Robinette in a box as a special delivery for her two neices: Kelsey (3) and Sierra (6). Here they are after opening their "special delivery.

Running around in a 30 acre corn field was quite an experience. We had to be careful not to get lost when we were playing hide and seek.

It was a little spooky and inspired us to make scary faces a camp fire in cory's yard.

Nearby was Lake Ontario. It felt just like we were at the ocean a white sand beach that was several miles long and the water disappearing off onto the horizon. The sand is the finest and softest I've ever felt. It's quite the summertime destination as you can see.

We spent a lot of time playing with the kids.

Campouts in Mamma Maya's back yard.

This is Kelsey and her mom Marla, Robinette's neice and sister in law. Kelsey was so shy that she would always quietly hide behind her mom's leg when I was around. She let down her guard one day when her sister and I were playing doctor and forgot I was on her shy list.

My Cousin Domkinic lives only a couple of hours away in Toronto. It was great to see him and Sharon and David (5), and to meet their daughter Mira (2) for the first time. If it look's like Mira is photoshopped in here, it's because she is!

One of my favorite places was called Prince Edward county....simply reffered to as "the county". It is basically an island on lake ontario that is covered with tranquil farm land, beaches, winearys, chese factories, etc. We went there almost twice a week. One of the times was for Robinette's first solo yoga retreat at a place called the Shanti Lodge. It was the most peaceful weekend filled with asana, meditation, kirtan chanting, sunsets, and incredible vegitarian food. The yoga studio was in a 100 year old barn and we ate and slept in an old farm house that the owners Wendy and Daron converted to a B + B. Marilyn and I traded off drumming for the Kirtan chants which was a lot of fun for me as I've always been too shy to drum with Robinette.

Robinette and I went up to Algonquin park and rented a canoe for the day in a place called Baron Canyon, which was beautiful and wild.

From there we went to Quebec city, which felt like going to another country. It is a walled fortress of a city just like somthing you'd see in medevil europe. Hearing the french conversations from the cobblestone street drift into the window of our BnB made ask myself where I was. Here is a picture overlooking the old part of town with the St Lawrence river in the background.

I've always wanted to see Niagara falls....it was so close so Robinette dropped me off there before I took off for Manhattan.

The Food

Tim Hortons!

The coffe and doughnut place that basically the entire popluation is addicted to. Every town has at least 4 or 5 locations and the drive through is lined up at all hours of the day. Here is a cup with a box of "Tim Bits", the local version of doughnut holes.

Poutine....yum.

Greasy fries topped with cheese curd and smothered with gravy. This Quebec dish that has made it to Ontario was a personal favorite

Ahhhh, Bevertails.

Another Quebec favorite that is common at carnivals and festivals. It's a flat pastry like a doughnut, with maple and chocolate frosting, sprinkled with walnuts.

Butter Tarts!

These are like mini pecan pies, only take out the peacans and double the butter. An Ontario specaialty.

Spider Dogs.

Take a regular hot dog, cut the ends into little figers heald together at the middle, and they curl up like spider legs. Great for the kids when camping

Dill Pickle Chips

My new favorite chip. They have the most interesting flavors in canada for their chips, popcorn, rice cakes, etc. Ketsup, Chicken and Gravy, and my personal favorite Dill Pickle. It has all the tangyness of salt and vinegar but with the extra flavor of dill.

And as always, I'll leave you with a few local flowers:
